Conservative Future North East Policy Forum

On Saturday 16th June, DUCA was represented at the Conservative Future Policy Forum on 'How the Conservatives can win in the North', held at the Northern Counties Club in Newcastle, by newly elected Exec members Jonathan [centre-left], George [centre] and Miranda [centre-right]. Also attending were CF National Chairman Ben Howlett, Vice-President of the Conservative National Convention Charles Heslop, and many other regional chairmen and officials. The threat of boundary changes to incumbent Northern Tory MPs was raised, as well as the absolute importance of winning the battle of ideas in favour of aspirational Britons when getting the conservative message out to the doorsteps of the local area. The success of James Wharton MP (Con. Stockton South) in 2010 was heralded as an exceptional achievement - the community groundwork and awareness for which must be emulated across the North East and North West. One attendee remarked: "A constituency association which fundraises together, has fun together, campaigns together and wins together".
