Easter Term Garden Party, AGM, and Exec Elections

As the academic year drew to a close, DUCA held its AGM to elect the new Executive to lead our growing organisation forward into a new academic year. The AGM took place at 65 Claypath, with considerably improved weather on last year's wash out!

Thanks to outgoing social secretary Theo's hospitality, a wide array of drinks including Pimms was on offer, providing DUCA members a memorable and enjoyable Garden Party.

Returning Officer Megan conducted the elections of each position, with DUCA's Political Officer Jonathan successfully elected as the new President (Michaelmas 2013). Alex was elected the Treasurer, Ben the Social Secretary, Stuart the Political Officer, Percy the Press Officer, whilst Megan will continue her fabulous work for the association next academic year as the Secretary. 2013 Epiphany and Easter DUCA President Miranda Jupp will act as Returning Officer.

A majority of DUCA members voted to disband the post of the Registrar at the AGM and decided that this role will lie with the Secretary. A motion was also put forward to create a new executive position of Alumni and Sponsorship Officer. However, this position was rejected by a majority of the members.

Last but not least, Theo Lloyd proposed to create the honorary role of 'Honorary Ian Williamson', and was elected unopposed. The President commented that he now 'only lead[s] the DUCA Commons', whilst Theo is 'taking the reins of the DUCA Lords'. All the very best to the new Executive, and to Theo, as a democratically elected leader of the Lords.
